Granite is a unique and special rock, it is the signature of planet Earth. While other rocky planets such as Mercury, Venus and Mars are covered in basalt, only planet Earth has this attractive and interesting rock. An extremely strong stone, the strength of Granite can be attributed to the its density, which is acquired during the slow cooling of magma, after volcanic eruption. The quartz and feldspar, that form the main components of Granite, are harder than steel. Granite takes a good polish and resists weathering very well, making it remarkably desirable for building and ornamental purposes. For decades, this stone has been a favorite for kitchen tops, and for flooring in high traffic areas in both private and public spaces.
